Position Overview The Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for providing technical health and safety including PSM support as well as having overall responsibility for environmental compliance, reporting, training, and crisis management at the Viskase Loudon facility.
The EHS Manager is responsible for environmental, industrial hygiene, safety, and emergency response programs in Loudon.
Additional responsibilities include reviewing, developing, and implementing health and safety standards and programs, conducting health and safety audits, and advising management and employees on regulatory requirements concerning the same for the location.
Will also certify new and modified manufacturing equipment.
The EHS Manager reports to the site Plant Manager.
Expectations and Accountabilities Manages, develops, implements, and enforces Corporate and plant safety programs and ensures compliance with local safety laws and regulations for the Loudon plant.
Coordinates and leads safety training meetings for all respective employees.
Administers and manages Workers Compensation programs and works with the Workers Compensation vendor on open claims.
Manages and leads the processes and requirements within the Viskase Operating System.
Maintains OSHA logs and first aid reports for all locations.
Assesses current loss prevention and control efforts, in the area of health and safety, and makes recommendations to management for improvement.
Conducts plant tours to identify potential workplace safety/housekeeping hazards.
Inspects construction projects and takes action to ensure employee safety as necessary.
Drives accident prevention activities to include inspections, observations, and incident investigations.
Manages hearing conservation program.
Performs plant audiometric testing, noise monitoring, and training.
Ensures that new and modified manufacturing equipment complies with industrial hygiene/safety standards.
Advisory capacity to local management and manages OSHA inspections and correspondence.
Performs all environmental reporting, establishes and maintains compliance of all environmental policies.
Develops and executes all regulatory required training in line with state and federal guidelines.
Fosters a behavior based safety culture throughout the facility.
Education and Experience University Degree or equivalent education/experience in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or other appropriate technical discipline; CSP certification a plus Minimum 5-10 yrs experience in EHS leadership role including at least 5 years of (PSM) Process Safety Management experience in a small to mid-sized chemicals manufacturing plant Experience with Title V air permitting, SARA, RMP program, knowledge of wastewater, hazardous waste management etc.
