Queen City Railroad Construction, Inc operates as a railroad construction contractor for building and repairing railroad tracks primarily in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and Southern regions of the United States.
Job Summary:
The primary role and responsibility for this position is to handle railroad material with a grapple truck and other various heavy equipment operation.
Adherence to individual Railroad and FRA safety standards and company policies.
Preventative maintenance on all equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Operates Material handling/Grapple truck in railroad construction environment supporting construction operations.
The operation of a grapple boom truck to pick up and remove, load out, transport and other various duties that may be required for the safe removal and storage of railroad track materials from railroad track lines
Proven ability to skillfully operate a grapple truck with hi rail gear.
Demonstrate experienced operation and equipment knowledge.
Performs preventative maintenance on heavy or specialized equipment.
Communicates with supervisor throughout the job process.
Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot simple mechanical failures.
Ensures working conditions are safe and that proper PPE is being used as job duties require.
Safely drive, operate, and maintain CDL required vehicles and equipment.
Follow DOT regulations; ensuring proper permits and driving regulations are followed.
Travel up to 3 weeks at a time is necessary
Minimum Requirements:
Prior railroad experience preferred.
Basic mechanical knowledge to make small repairs (change hydraulic hose, grease and lube, safety walk around inspection
CDL A or B and DOT medical card preferred.
Very good communication skills
Problem solving abilities.
Ability to carry out repairs in various climate conditions
Must pass background check and drug test
Specialized/Technical Knowledge/Education/Experience:
Prefer previous construction experience
Safety conscious with high regard for other employees working with or near equipment
Must be a team player and willing to learn all phases of the position.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:
Able to perform duties outside in multiple environments including but not limited to heat and humidity, rain, snow, and ice
Frequent walking on uneven surfaces
Standing for extended periods of time
Lift/carry or push/pull equipment and other objects weighing up to 75 pounds
Must be able to bend, stoop, twist, climb and kneel for extended periods of time
Use Hands in Repetitive Motions, Repeat Same Movements
May work at heights
