The primary responsibility of the Compost Plant Foreman is to perform work planning and supervising the operation of a co-composting facility under direct supervision of the Operations Manager.
This position is responsible for hands on technical and supervisory work in directing the operations and activities of the plant, maintenance, and odor control systems.
This includes supervising personnel, ensuring efficient dumping of waste on the tipping floor looking for ways to minimize wait in time, the proper mix of materials in the digesters, loading and unloading digesters each day, moving and screening finished compost each day.
This position is typically a fixed schedule, however, if the plant is down the compost plant foreman is expected to be there.
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
*PRIMARY DUTIES*
· Supervise personnel throughout the day ensuring each position is efficiently completing their job.
· Schedule employees within labor budget to ensure work is done and OT is minimized
· Formulates operating policies and procedures and sees that they are adhered to by personnel
· Direct and/or help repair equipment to minimize downtime
· Ensure all operating digesters are emptied and loaded each day
· Check to ensure all paperwork is completed by employees including pre-ops for machines, regulatory paperwork and operating paperwork
· Provide technical and operational training to staff
· Communicate maintenance, operational, and production issues timely to Operations Manager
· Keep the site operations clean and organized
· Supervise the staff’s performance of routine tasks to complete assigned work schedules to include accepting waste at the tipping floor, instructing what and how much waste is loaded into each digester, unloaded from each digester, hairballs removed from each digester, unloading in accordance with the operational procedures, screening compost and stacking compost to create quality compost
· Operation of loader and other heavy equipment
· Routinely inspects all equipment, facilities, rolling stock, mobile equipment for any and all repairs that need to be addressed
· Directs preventative and reactive maintenance
· Directs sampling of compost to adhere to state and federal guidelines
· Advises and assists in the installation of hydraulic pumps, machinery and other equipment
· Completes daily, weekly, and monthly monitoring reports
· Adhere to all safety guidelines
· At end of shift, secure all equipment, machinery, digester doors, and facility doors
· Additional job duties as requested by management

· Must be 18 years of age
· Must be able to pass a drug test
· Ability to operate a manlift
· Must be able to perform the essential job functions

Pay: $80,000.
