Job Title: Instructor of Nursing
Campus Location: Morristown Campus (Employees are assigned to a “home” location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.
)
Job Purpose: Develop and teach courses in the nursing discipline in classroom/laboratory/clinical settings.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop and teach courses in the nursing discipline in classroom/laboratory/clinical settings with particular emphasis on fundamentals and medical/surgical nursing.
Instruction in other specialty areas may be required.
May teach large or small groups.
Prepare course syllabi, course materials, and examinations.
Collaborative teaching with a team of peers.
Participate in student curriculum development, recruiting, student advising, departmental and divisional meetings, and college boards and committees as well as accreditation activities.
Evaluate student learning and maintain class records.
Advise nursing and health program majors.
Establish and maintain partnerships with clinical agencies to facilitate student clinical learning experiences.
Establish and complete goals and objectives for the individual and department.
Assess educational outcome measures and complete academic reporting as required.
Provide instruction in technology enhanced class settings including interactive streaming and online distance technology as well as instruction with simulation clinical equipment.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of a Master’s degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
Minimum of three years recent clinical experience.
Possess current license as a nurse in Tennessee (or be licensure eligible).
Teaching experience with a group of individuals.
Have ability to communicate effectively and to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in curriculum development is recommended.

Leadership & Supervisory: This position has no supervisory responsibilities, but is expected to participate as part of a team in conjunction with other Health Programs faculty.
Environment & Working Conditions: Office environment is temperature controlled with occasional fluctuations, well lit, and free from loud noises and unnecessary interruptions.
Exposure to disease could be potentially hazardous.
Exposure to bodily fluids can occasionally occur.
