Physically able to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and maintain varied body motions and positions for long periods of time

Work is performed in the pre- and post-operative bay(s) of the center with some involvement with business office and other clinical areas

Minimal travel may be required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans, implements, and evaluates pre and post-operative nursing care for patients based on individual, specific patient needs, and according to physician’s orders
Follows policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for perioperative nursing care according to accepted standards
Organizes and prepares medical records of patients.
Documents care appropriately and fully.
Follows up on missing data and other patient care needs
Knows and adheres to policies of the Center and demonstrates fiscal responsibility\
Protects patients’ rights, dignity, and privacy
Maintains and demonstrates current skills and knowledge of intravenous therapy, medication administration and effects, patient assessment, airway maintenance, patient teaching, emotional/social support of patients and families, and other needed clinical competencies
Remains calm and functions as a team member during times of stress and crisis situations
Seeks involvement in activities that promote professional growth and behavior
Actively participates in appropriate committee and quality-improvement activities
Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens
Uses good body mechanics
Informs Clinical Director of applicable day-to-day situations
Follows employee health and other personnel and staffing policies
Being compliant with federal, state, and accreditation standards, as applicable
Demonstrates knowledge of specific responsibilities in all emergency situations
Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing required
Current registered nurse licensure in State of employment
BLS / ACLS / PALS Certified, as applicable
Minimum of 3 years of pre-op / PACU nursing experience in an ambulatory surgery center setting, preferred
Adult & Pediatric experience, preferred
Ability to apply common sense to circumstances
Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards
Maintains regular attendance
