CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT ( CNA ) JOB SUMMARY
A Certified Nursing Assistant ( CNA )/Unit Secretary may give direct care to patients in the age group of adults and geriatrics.
Provide each assigned resident with routine daily nursing care and services to the adult and geriatric population in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your Charge Nurse.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and/or experience: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with laws of Tennessee.
Long Term Care experience is preferred.
Knowledge: Must be knowledgeable of medical terminology.
Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
Must be knowledgeable in performing work involving routine care of patient and/or residents related to Activities of Daily Living (i.
e.
bathing, feeding, toileting, obtaining vital signs, documenting, etc.
)
Skills: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
Basic computer skills required.
Must possess a valid driver’s license for transport of specimens, etc.

Abilities: Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
Must possess leadership, flexi- bility & supervisory ability along with the willingness to work harmoniously with & supervise other personnel.
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
