Johnson University invites applications for a full-time Core Faculty position within the CACREP-accredited Graduate Counseling Program.
The position will begin July 1, 2023.
Position: Full-time faculty (non-tenure track, 12-month appointment) Location: Johnson University, Knoxville, TN campus Reports to: Dean of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SSBS) The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SSBS) houses undergraduate programs in Psychology and Family Studies (CFLE-approved program), a CACREP-accredited master’s degree in counseling with concentrations in School Counseling (SC) and Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC), and houses the University Counseling Center on the Tennessee Campus.
Full-time Graduate Counseling Program faculty members can expect to teach 18 hrs per academic year.
Graduate courses are taught in 8- and 16-week formats using hybrid instructional methods.
Salary for the position is commensurate with qualifications and includes a full university benefits package.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Instruct and facilitate meaningful learning of course material.
Use innovative learning strategies and effectively integrate technology into the learning experience.
Conduct assessments of student learning outcomes and provide accurate/timely assessment data to the SSBS Assessment Coordinator and Graduate Program Director.
Provide timely feedback/grades to students and Registrar.
Maintain appropriate office hours during the academic year.
Group and or individual/triadic supervision of practicum students and interns.
Clinical oversight and/or involvement in the Johnson University Counseling Center.
SCHOOL RESPONSIBILITIES Participate in Program and SSBS faculty meetings.
Participate in school projects/tasks (e.
g.
faculty hiring process, curriculum review and oversight, accreditation-related activities).
Actively participate in marketing of the program as well as forming partnerships with colleagues and students where appropriate.
INSTITUTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Attend University faculty meetings.
Actively participate in the University community life.
The final candidate should be prepared to respond in a signed statement of their support of JU’s faculty community covenant, faculty handbook, JU mission/values, JU statement of faith, and the SSBS mission statement (available upon request).
KEY QUALIFICATIONS Terminal degree in counselor education from a regionally accredited institution (or have related doctoral degrees and have been employed as full-time faculty members in a counselor education program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 1, 2023).
Will consider ABD if a clear timeline for completion is in place.
Demonstrated service to the profession and the broader community through local, regional, and national affiliations, with evidence of scholarship through presentations and/or publications.
Able to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through teaching, research, and/or service.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Support the mission of Johnson University and act in accordance with Johnson University’s stated values; able to support and live in accordance with the Faculty Community Covenant.
Able to integrate robust Christian faith with behavioral sciences and professional practice.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with diverse groups.
Proficient with the use of standard office and Internet applications on personal computers.
Able to become proficient using the Sakai learning management platform.
