The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the South College School of Pharmacy, Knoxville, Tennessee, invites applications for full-time, non-tenure track, 12-month faculty positions.
There are two positions available for immediate appointment.
The individuals in these positions will be primarily responsible for teaching PharmD students in our 3-year, accelerated pharmacy program but will also be expected to contribute to new knowledge through scholarship and provide service to the School of Pharmacy, South College, and the greater Knoxville community.
Academic rank (Asst.
/Assoc.
/Prof.
) of the successful candidates will be commensurate with experience.
Applicants with areas of expertise/interest within the broad discipline of pharmaceutical sciences are welcome to apply.
Areas of priority expertise are (1) pharmacology/medicinal chemistry and associated areas such as ADME and pharmacokinetics and (2) biological/biomedical sciences to include basic physiology, pathophysiology, and immunology.
Instructional duties include contribution to both required and elective courses delivered to both on ground and online students in our PharmD program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Pharm.

D.
in pharmacology, physiology, toxicology, biochemistry, or related biomedical science field
Experience and Training:
Strong academic credentials in areas of relevance to pharmacy, such as pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, physiology/pathophysiology, immunology, biochemistry.
Biomedical/pharmaceutical sciences or pharmacy teaching experience.
Contribute to new knowledge through scholarship in the individual’s field of study or Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Develops, coordinates, and teaches content within the School of Pharmacy as appointed by the Department Chair to on-ground and remote students
Develops and offers an elective course or courses that corresponds with expertise area(s) as needed.
Utilizes ExamSoft® or other software to conduct all School of Pharmacy assessments.
Provides mentorship and advisement for students in the School of Pharmacy as appointed by the Dean’s Office and Department Chair
Communicates teaching and scholarship activities through frequent and effective communication with the Department Chair
Contributes to new knowledge through scholarship
Integrates and enhances collaborations among the clinical sciences and basic sciences in areas of research, education, and service
Advances the service missions of the School of Pharmacy and South College
Acts as a authoritative representative and advocate for the department, the school of pharmacy and the College
Actively participates in committees within the Department, School of Pharmacy, and University and participates in professional and governmental organizations as appointed by the Department Chair.
Operates within South College and School of Pharmacy policies.
Undertakes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
