EL Educator

SCOPE OF EXPECTATIONS
Instruction
Apply knowledge of first and second language acquisition theories and employ best practices for English language development.
Develop and execute an effective English language development instructional program.
Serve as an individual learning plan (ILP) case manager for assigned ELs.
Deliver instruction in English language development courses and co-teach in various content areas.
Assessment
Administer formative and summative English language proficiency assessments to evaluate English language proficiency and monitor student progress.
Design and administer common formative assessments in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Utilize data analysis to inform placement and instructional decisions in collaboration with stakeholders.
Compliance and Support
Provide EL services and complete Title III documentation as outlined by the Tennessee Department of Education.
Develop tailored individual language goals for students requiring language support.
Ensure adherence to regulations governing English language learner education.
Support stakeholders in implementing best practices and instructional strategies for English learners.
Family Engagement
Foster ongoing communication and engagement with families.
Qualifications:
A minimum of bachelor’s degree and Tennessee teaching license with appropriate endorsement required.
Secondary EL teaching experience preferred.
Endorsement codes as required.
Salary as per the Teacher Salary Schedule.
**Salary is based on 2023-2024 salary schedule with an increase expected with 2024-2025 budget approval**
