Emerald Youth Foundation has paid, part-time positions available for the 24/25 school year serving in their afterschool programs.
These are available through the AmeriCorps program and a great opportunity to make a big difference in your life and in the lives of city young people in Knoxville.
It is not employment but national service, and if you have a practicum or internship to fulfill for school, it can count towards that.
Benefits: GET PAID TO SERVE (called a living allowance) up to 20 hours afterschool each week.
RECEIVE TRAINING through Emerald Youth University and participate in fun, team-building activities.
EARN A SCHOLARSHIP (called an education award) to pay tuition or student loans.
ADD VALUABLE SERVICE EXPERIENCE to your resume.
**Note: Applicants must be a certified U.
S.
citizen, a national, or legal permanent resident.
Emerald Youth prefers applicants to be at least 18 years of age or turning 18 shortly after the start date.
A high school diploma or GED is required prior to completion of the service term.
There are 4 kinds of AmeriCorps positions available with Emerald Youth: School Year General Role - For the school year (includes both fall AND spring semesters), lead learning and enrichment activities with elementary and/or middle school students.
Benefits less taxes: Living Allowance = $9,450; Education Award = $2,817.

Semester General Role - For the fall OR spring semester, lead learning and enrichment activities with elementary and/or middle school students.
Benefits less taxes: Living Allowance = $4,200; Education Award = $1,565.

School Year Learning Role - Perfect for aspiring teachers and/or to fulfill a teaching practicum.
For the school year (includes both fall AND spring semesters), primarily facilitate the computer learning lab for elementary and/or middle school students.
Benefits less taxes: Living Allowance = $9,450; Education Award = $2,817.

Semester RecSports Role - This position is intended for candidates who are looking to fulfill a 400 hour sports practicum.
For the fall OR spring semester, facilitate the planning and implementation of structured health and recreational activities for both the elementary and middle school age groups as part of the afterschool programs (300 hours).
**This position is intended for candidates recruited by Emerald Youth sports staff who are looking to accrue a total of 400 hours as part of a sports internship.
The remainder of the 400 internship hours (100 hours) will be provided by the sports staff outside of the AmeriCorps afterschool program schedule.
Benefits less taxes: Living Allowance = $4,200; Education Award = $1,565.
