Job Description
Full-Time; Hours: 7:15 AM - 3:15 PM, Monday - Friday, excluding holidays/breaks
Age Group: 4th - 8th Grade
Pay Range: $27,547.
83 - $35,812.

*Classroom*
* give appropriate presentations to students
* use Montessori principles for all instruction
* prepare curricular materials which follow Montessori principles
* facilitate class discussions and oversee student self-governance
* attend school functions and field trips for the appropriate class
* prepare and distribute a minimum of two progress reports per year for each child
* hold a minimum of two conferences per year for each child
* maintain records on each child for attendance, lessons presented, progress reports, end of year evaluation, injury, parent communication, behavior
* help maintain arrival and dismissal logs (paper or electronic)
* maintain on-going communication with parents helping them understand Montessori philosophy and school policies when necessary
* maintain an attractive classroom environment by maintaining uncluttered walls, storage, shelves, and floor
* care for plants and animals chosen for classroom
* restock classroom supplies
* other duties as assigned
* work shift hours as assigned
* must be comfortable working in the garden, hiking in the woods, and temperature extremes
*Safety*
* be responsible for safety and physical well-being of children at all times
* never leave children unattended
* follow Director’s guidelines for storage of toxic materials
* report all accidents and injuries to parents and Director
*Administrative*
* be directly accountable to the Director
* follow school policies and TN DOE Standards
* attend all staff meetings
* help orient Assistant Guides to their responsibilities in the classroom
* inform Director of parent complaints/concerns
* report unusual behavior or possible abuse to Director
* request the presence of the Director whenever dealing with an upset parent
* obtain 30 hours of in-service training yearly (If the in-service training provided by the Director is not attended, it becomes the sole responsibility of the teacher to arrange for in-service training at no cost to the school.
)
* provide monthly documentation of in-service training
* participate in annual performance evaluation

*Job Requirements*
* Bachelor’s degree
* 21 years or older (TN DOE Standard Requirement)
* Background screening prior to employment and as dictated by TN DOE
* CPR/First Aid Certification
* Prior professional experience with this age group in a school
* Experience with Google Classroom is helpful
* Montessori Certification or willingness to learn Montessori pedagogy
