The Behavioral Health Therapist provides programs and services to address the behavioral health needs of the university community.
This position reports to the Director of Behavioral Health.
The position is a 10-month full-time position requiring approximately 40 hours per week.
9 weeks (about 2 months) off will be arranged with the Director of Behavioral Health and in alignment with the university’s schedule to meet overall student service and staffing needs.
Essential Job Functions: Provides services to address the behavioral health needs of the university community: Provides direct services to students and/or employees, including: Clinical assessments, individual, group, and crisis counseling relative to personal and social problems.
Assistance in student-related mental health crises.
(Includes rotating on-call responsibilities after regular working hours to provide crisis intervention for acute mental health needs).
Acts as a liaison between the client and campus or community resources as needed.
Psycho-educational and outreach programming for the campus community as well as select general campus programming or events.
Provides consultations and recommendations to administration, faculty, and/or staff regarding behavioral health issues as permitted by professional ethics and legal statute.
Completes clinical and other documentation within required timelines Provides services with sensitivity to the unique constraints of college student schedules and needs Services provided will primarily be face-to-face, but may also include some remote work as assigned.
Provides clinical supervision to practicum and/or internship students as needed.
Participates in meetings/trainings/other forms of communication as needed.
Performs all duties in compliance with all applicable UC policies, SACSCOC standards, CACREP standards, applicable professional board guidelines, ethical standards, FERPA regulations, HIPAA regulations, applicable state and federal laws, and best practice indicators.
Performs duties in support of university mission and student success and academic achievement.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the field and participate in ongoing professional development.
Other clinical, outreach, and/or administrative duties as assigned by Director of Behavioral Health.
Education and Experience Requirements: Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or a counseling-related field Licensed to provide behavioral health services in Kentucky, such as: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC); Certified Social Worker (CSW); Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA).
Experience in college or university counseling environment preferred.
