*Professional Civil Engineer*
*ENTRY-LEVEL SALARY: *$66,341 annually

*MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS*
* Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a college or university accredited by the Accrediting Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) including or supplemented by courses in traffic engineering.
* Ability to obtain an appropriate Driver’s License as required by State Law.
* Possession of a valid Registered Professional Engineer’s License issued by the Tennessee State Board of Architects and Engineer Examiners *OR *Possession of a valid Registered Professional Engineer’s License issued by a comparable board in another state and obtain the Tennessee State Board of Architects and Engineer Examiners license within the probationary period.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*
Reviews and approves a variety of engineering proposals, plans, specifications, etc.
As directed, attends meetings and otherwise relieves Director and/or Deputy Director of administrative duties.
Performs complex design responsibilities involving the preparation of plans, specifications, contract documents and cost estimates for municipal construction and maintenance projects such as roadway, drainage, bridge or general site planning.
Performs City-wide planning responsibilities for municipal engineering concerns such as: drainage and floodplain management; erosion and sediment control; right-of-way access control and management; utility coordination and planning; and street light coordination and management; water quality/NPDES programs.
Administers construction/maintenance contracts by performing or directing the performance of on-site inspections, specification interpretations and field adjustments, and overall project coordination with contractors, utilities, departments, and industry.
Provides supervision to professional and technical staff in the completion of plans and specifications, collection and monitoring of field survey data, and field and industrial inspections.
Performs plan review responsibilities to determine compliance with legal requirements and sound engineering standards.
Reviews, responds to, and resolves citizen inquiries or complaints with regard to projects or municipal public works problems.
Performs detailed engineering computations in such areas as hydrology (hydraulics, surveying, structures, etc.
).
Supervises drafters, technicians, and/or survey crews.
Provides training to other employees, the community, contractors, and engineers.
Speaks at neighborhood meetings.
